What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy has been around and has been practiced in one form or another since the beginning of civilization. It is the art, and science, of using oils extracted from aromatic plants to enhance health and beauty. Essential oils can have subtle effects on the mind and emotions and an even greater effect on the body. The essential oils taken from plants and used in Aromatherapy have been described as their "life force" - they are essential to the plants' biological process, as well as being the substance which gives them their scent.

Synthetic oils, even if chemically similar, will lack all the natural elements, and that vital life-force, that make essential oils so valuable therapeutically.

One must be careful in selecting essential oils as not all manufacturers produce therapeutic grade essential oils. If it is not therapeutic grade then the healing properties are less or completely missing.

This is why I exclusively use therapeutic grade essential oils.

 What is Aromatherapy Massage?

One of the most effective methods of using the essential oils is in combination with massage. The skin absorbs the oil over a large surface area and because there are many small blood vessels, (capillaries), close to the surface of the skin, the oils, properly diluted, are carried into the blood stream and then to the relevant parts of the body quickly and effectively. This is facilitated even more by the blood circulation increase provided by massage.

 Custom Aromatherapy Blending

Therapeutic blending focuses on creating a blend that will aid with a particular emotional or physical condition. Therapeutic blending concentrates more on the therapeutic result than on the aroma of the blend, but naturally it’s important to create a therapeutic blend that is pleasing in aroma.

To make a long story short, the blends I create always have at least one essential oil from the 3 classifications of terpenes- Monoterpenes, Sesquiterpenes , and Phenylpropanoids. Each kind of terpene does a different "thing'.

One kind of terpene facilitates healing by cleaning receptor sites; another erases bad information in the cellular memory and the last kind rewrites the correct code in the DNA.

When combined in a therapeutic blend you get the benefits of all three.

Is Aromatherapy safe?

Yes, when a treatment or blend is created by someone educated in the use of essential oils.

Not all of the oils are considered “safe” to use by a layperson, and many should not be used by anyone. So don't monkey around with essential oils until you know what you are doing or at the very least have a great reference book.

It is vital that you inform me (or update your health questionnaire) of any medications (prescription or OTC) that you are taking so I do not create a blend that interacts with what you are taking.

**One drop of essential oil can bath every cell in your body with 40,000 molecules.**

Essential oils are a gift from nature to help us heal.

What are my options with Aromatherapy Massage?

For Aromatherapy Massage, you have two options.

One is to use a blend I have previously created and have on hand at all times that treats complaints like stress, sore muscles, or sadness.

Another option is to choose a Custom Aromatherapy Blend. The fee is $10.00. We will go over a Custom Aromatherapy Form together and discuss your goals with Aromatherapy Massage.

The Custom Aromatherapy Blend creates a 1 ounce bottle of therapeutic aromatherapy massage oil that will be labeled with your name and is only used during your treatments.

The blend will combine the therapeutic benefits you seek while keeping in mind the types of scents you like.

The bottle should last about 10 sessions depending on how much is used during each treatment.

Download this form, fill it out and bring it with you for your Custom Aromatherapy Blend Consultation.
